About
Nuwara Eliya is home to some of Sri Lanka’s most scenic waterfalls, offering breathtaking views and photo opportunities amid lush green landscapes. Two of the most popular waterfalls are:
Lover’s Leap Waterfall
Located about 6 km from Nuwara Eliya town, this 30-meter-high waterfall is surrounded by dense forest and tea plantations.
Its name comes from a local legend about star-crossed lovers, adding a romantic allure to the site.
Visitors can enjoy short hikes to reach viewpoints and take in panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
Devon Falls
Often called the “Veil of the Valley,” Devon Falls is approximately 97 meters high and one of the most photographed waterfalls in the hill country.
The waterfall is easily accessible from the main road, making it ideal for quick sightseeing stops.
Nearby tea estates and viewpoints allow visitors to capture the full scenic beauty of the cascading water against the lush greenery.
Both waterfalls are best visited during the rainy season or after heavy rains when the water flow is at its peak, creating a dramatic and refreshing experience.
